Trust Senior

The Department:

The Trust team is a small yet busy department of the firm, currently comprising of two experienced Managers, an Assistant Manager, and a dedicated trainee, headed by one of our Private Client partners.

The department deals with a variety of trust work including preparing trust and estate accounts, trust and estate tax returns and reporting Inheritance Tax events for over 400 trusts and estates. They also provide a full tax review service for trusts and estates, increasingly with an offshore nature.

The Role:

We require a Senior to join our Trust team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Working closely with the managers, the duties and responsibilities of this role would include the following:

• Preparing trust accounts for review by senior personnel for all kinds of trust and estates
• Preparing complicated tax returns for review by senior personnel
• Initially reviewing work produced by more junior personnel
• Preparing complicated capital gains tax computations and income tax computations, in respect of compliance and future tax planning
• Calculating future income distributions
• Communicating and liaising with clients
• Communicating and corresponding with HMRC
• Departmental administrative duties
• Other ad hoc duties in line with the role

The Candidate:

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

• A minimum of 2 years’ personal tax/trust experience within a practice environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• A proactive attitude
• The ability to work successfully in a team
• The ability to work under pressure where necessary
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent organisational skills

The ideal candidate should possess strong experience in trust tax and accounting, and the areas listed above. Experience of Troika and Digita software, or other specialist tax and trust software, would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will already be ATT qualified, as well as being a part-qualified or newly-qualified CTA. We would be willing to support any remaining CTA papers after successful completion of a probationary period.
