Private Client Tax Manager

Founded in 1933, the practice comprises 26 partners and approximately 280 staff supplying a range of services spanning audit, corporate taxation, private client services, VAT and forensic accounting, together with a range of sector groups offering specialist industry knowledge.

The Department:

The Private Client department comprises 30 specialist staff and is headed by 6 Partners, a Consultant and 2 Directors.

The Role:

We require a Manager to join our expanding Private Client Tax team.

The successful candidate will be working predominantly for our Partner who is Head of Tax, helping to run their significant portfolio of UHNW clients. They will be part of our wider enthusiastic, successful, and motivated team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the role will be to look after the day to day running of a portfolio of clients. Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering technical advice, seeking opinions from Directors and Partners where necessary
  • Oversight and organisation of portfolio billing
  • Being the second point of contact for key clients
  • Attending pitches and conducting general BD work
  • Monitoring junior staff, providing feedback and answering queries where necessary
  • Identifying business development and cross-selling opportunities
  • Co-ordinating the compliance process for clients
  • Attending manager meetings and assisting with ideas for implementation in the department
  • Other ad hoc duties in line with the role

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ personal tax experience within a practice environment
  • A proactive attitude
  • The ability to work in a team
  • The ability to work under pressure and prioritise where necessary
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Experience of dealing with non-doms and HNWIs
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience
  • A mix of corporate and personal tax experience

The successful candidate must have experience of reviewing tax returns and handling a portfolio of clients, and they should also be commercially aware regarding billing and marketing.

The successful candidate should be CTA qualified. We would also prefer the successful candidate to have some working knowledge of Digita software, although training will be provided if not.
