Accountant – Internal Accounts, London

Founded in 1933, the practice comprises 28 partners and approximately 300 staff supplying a range of services spanning audit, corporate taxation, private client services, VAT and forensic accounting, together with a range of sector groups offering specialist industry knowledge.

The Department

The Internal Accounts Department comprises some 12 staff dealing with the Time and Billings function, Purchase Ledger, Treasury and Credit Control along with all Management and Statutory Accounts requirements for the HW Fisher Group.

The department is currently located in our Watford office; however, the team will be relocating to our London office in October 2019.

The Candidate

The successful candidate should possess at least 3 years’ experience within an accounting role. They should also demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong numeric and analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • An advanced level ability with Microsoft Excel, along with being a strong general IT user
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

The ideal candidate will be a part-qualified accountant or possibly qualified by experience.

Depending on when the successful candidate can commence, there may need to be a period of training in Watford prior to the relocation of the team.

The Role

We are looking for an Accountant to work within this department. This role will require somebody committed to a high standard of work. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Financial Controller.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the role are varied and will include:

  • Bringing the accounts up to P&L/balance sheet level for 5 companies under the HW Fisher umbrella
  • Preparing management accounts
  • Preparing VAT returns
  • Ownership of various nominal ledgers within the group including Balance Sheet reconciliations and various P&L schedules
  • Other ad hoc duties in line with the role
