As the financial director for the firm and its subsidiaries, I am responsible for the finances and administration of the entire group.
Ultimately, this means I am responsible for managing the finances of the group in much the same way as anyone would expect the partners to manage the finances of our clients.
I oversee the production of all financial statements for the firm and its related operating entities.
While I rarely have direct contact with clients, partners often seek my advice and I act as a sounding-board. I also have a role in some of the firm’s currency hedging activity which arises due to the growing number of international clients we have, particularly in the US, south-east Asia and China.
Given my role at HW Fisher, it will probably come as little surprise when I say my greatest career highlight was navigating the firm through the turbulent years that followed the 2008 financial crisis and subsequent global recession that followed. The recession required careful planning and some problem-solving to ensure we came through unscathed.
I have nearly 40 years’ experience as an accountant and joined HW Fisher in 1990, becoming partner two years later.
