I am head of the team that deals with overseas clients who want to invest in UK property. I also have a significant portfolio of UK audit clients across a wide range of industry sectors, with a particular focus on family-run and professional partnership businesses.
HW Fisher’s activities in the inward investment area are substantial. Around two thirds of my work involves dealing with international clients or assisting overseas businesses establish themselves in the UK.
My specialisms include commercial and residential inward property investment, recommending ownership structures, and advising businesses that want to set up in the UK, particularly from South East Asia and China.
I have travelled frequently to these regions for over 25 years, often speaking at events and seminars about overseas landlords and their UK tax implications.
I qualified as an accountant in 1975, joined HW Fisher in 1982 as an audit manager and made partner in 1984.
A particular highlight of my career to date was in 1988 when I was the accountant who oversaw the proceeds from the 70th Birthday Tribute Nelson Mandela concert (just before his release) and also the follow up 1990 concert, (where he made his first international appearance after release) both at Wembley Stadium. We had to ensure the maximum funds raised from those concerts went to specific nominated charities who all had to indicate how the monies they would receive would assist projects in South Africa.
