Careers FAQs - Graduate
What is the recruitment process?
If you are interested in becoming an ACA Trainee at HW Fisher & Company then please follow the link on our “Graduate Recruitment” page and complete an application form. This will then be assessed by our Graduate Recruitment Team and if reviewed positively you will be invited to attend an interview session. Further details will then be given.
What are your entry requirements?
We ask that applicants have at least a 2:1 degree and 300 UCAS points. However, this is not rigid and we will take certain circumstances into account if you do not meet these criteria.
Do I need to prepare anything in advance if invited to an interview?
You will be informed in advance if there is anything that you are required to bring to or prepare for an interview.
Where will I be based as an ACA trainee?
Our ACA Trainees are based in our London office within our audit department for the duration of their training contract.
How long is the training contract?
We employ all of our ACA Trainees on a three year training contract.
When will I start if successful?
We have two intakes, January and September, each year. Although we ask that you apply for one intake only, should something change during the recruitment process then we can consider you for a different intake instead. Start dates in these months will be confirmed on an intake-by-intake basis.
What happens at the end of my training contract?
Around 90% of our trainees are offered permanent positions at the end of the three year period. There can sometimes be an opportunity to move to a department outside of our core audit offering, depending on what is available at the time.
There are no active vacancies, what shall I do?
Unfortunately this means that at that time we do not have any graduate positions available. However, this usually means that we are preparing to advertise for our next intake and therefore please continue to look at our graduate recruitment page which will have information when new applications can be submitted.
Do you provide feedback if unsuccessful on application?
Unfortunately due to the volume of applications that we receive it is not possible for us to provide specific feedback to each candidate; however you will be notified of the outcome of your application.
I have applied in the past but was unsuccessful. Can I reapply?
If you have submitted an application but were unsuccessful before reaching the interview stage then you are welcome to reapply, as there may be additional information in your application that can assist you this time around. However, we unfortunately do not reconsider applicants who have already interviewed with us.
I never realistically saw university as a choice I wanted to take. I always found the idea of owing so much money quite daunting. I felt like I could gain much more experience going into an apprenticeship than I ever would have at university. I also wanted to start earning money straight away. HW Fisher provided this perfect opportunity. I am learning every day, gaining relevant qualifications and earning a generous salary whilst I do so. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming; it has been a wonderful experience.- | AAT Apprentice
